JCHC is Serving More than Just Pies!
Mamma Mia! We are thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC) and Nonna’s Italian Restaurant in Florham Park. This collaboration is bringing the flavors of Italy straight to the residents of our Village Apartments, with delicious meals that foster community, joy, and connection.
A Partnership Rooted in Love and Community
This incredible program began with a heartfelt suggestion from the family member of a Village Apartments resident in South Orange. With their close ties to Nonna’s Italian Restaurant, the idea quickly turned into a reality, benefiting everyone in our community.
Through this partnership, Village Apartments residents can now enjoy gourmet Italian dishes delivered to their doorsteps twice a week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, residents can choose from a delightful menu that includes pizza, pasta, omelets, and gourmet chicken entrees — all at the affordable rate of just $11.10 per meal.
What makes this program so special isn’t just the delicious food — it’s the way it’s enhancing the bonds among our residents. Meal days have become a highlight of the week, with residents discussing their orders, sharing recommendations, and coming together to enjoy their meals in good company. Watching friendships flourish over plates of Nonna’s famous pizza truly brings the meaning of “Amore” to life.
And this is just the beginning! At JCHC, we’re exploring the possibility of extending this program to our other communities, including The Jewish Federation Plaza and B’nai B’rith Federation House.
The Benefits of Seniors Sharing Meals Together
Sharing a meal is about so much more than food. For seniors, dining together offers a ton of benefits, such as:
- Combating Loneliness: Eating together fosters a sense of connection and community. Seniors who share meals are less likely to feel isolated, leading to better mental and emotional well-being overall.
- Boosting Moods: There’s something truly uplifting about gathering around a table with friends and neighbors. Shared meals are often filled with laughter and conversation, creating a positive atmosphere that enhances everyone’s mood that lasts well after the meal is over.
- Encouraging Healthy Routines: Sitting down for regular meals provides structure to the day, helping seniors maintain a healthy routine. This consistency supports better physical and emotional health, which is crucial as we enter our later years.
By partnering with Nonna’s, JCHC is not only providing delicious meals but also creating opportunities for residents to connect, engage, and thrive.
Encouraging Shared Meals and More for Seniors Across NJ
At all of our JCHC communities, we are committed to fostering a sense of community through shared experiences like mealtime. While our Lester Senior Living community in particular offers scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner times, we also provide flexibility for residents to eat whenever they choose. With access to snacks 24/7 through our newly renovated atrium café and corner store, there’s always something delicious to enjoy.
No matter when your loved one decides to dine, they’ll always find someone ready to share a meal with them. Our NJ senior communities are designed to create an atmosphere of warmth and connection, ensuring that residents feel supported, engaged, and part of something special.
