Mother’s Day: Meet a JCHC Mother and Daughter Duo
Meet the lovely and musically-talented mother and daughter duo, Sue and Lorraine! They have been living in a two-bedroom apartment at Lester Senior Living in Morris County for over three years now and really enjoy their time here. Stephen, Lorraine’s brother and Sue’s son, actually was the one to introduce them to what their lives could be like at the JCHC. We were happy to interview both Sue and Lorraine in honor of Mother’s Day as they both think the world of one another and cherish their relationship as mother and daughter.
Choosing Motherhood Above All Else
Sue’s devotion as a mother was evident through the story she told us behind the scenes about how she chose being a mom over a life in the limelight. Back in the day, Sue was attending back to back auditions while studying with leading industry talents like composer, Estelle Liebling and chorus master, Kurt Adler. When she finally got a call back by Max Rudolf, a famous German orchestra conductor, to tour and perform in his shows overseas, she found out she was expecting her daughter, Lorraine! It was a no-brainer for her to turn down the offer as she “really wanted to raise her children” and be present in their lives alongside her husband. While she may have declined a wild opportunity to have her voice known globally, her voice continues to be known and celebrated by the people who matter most – her family. Fellow residents at Lester Senior Living also have the coveted opportunity to hear Sue sing from time to time around the piano in the lobby!
