Let the Passover Celebrations Begin at Lester Senior Living!

As the spring season blooms, so does the anticipation of Passover, which marks the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. At Lester Senior Living in Morris County, NJ, we cherish the opportunity to commemorate this holiday with our beloved residents.

Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, is observed for eight days and marked by special prayers, symbolic foods, and gatherings with loved ones. Understanding the significance of maintaining these traditions, Lester Senior Living has curated a series of activities and services to ensure our senior residents experience the best of Passover.

Passover Services and Activities for Seniors in Morris County

On the 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 8th days of Passover, our community will host special on-site services, providing residents with a space for prayer, reflection, and connection with one another. These services offer a sense of continuity and belonging, fostering a deeper spiritual experience for everyone who attends.

In between these services, we have planned a variety of unique activities to keep our residents engaged and in celebration. One of the activities we are most looking forward to is a special visit from the students at Kushner Academy, a renowned Modern Orthodox co-educational yeshiva. Students from Kushner plan to share their enthusiasm for Jewish learning and culture with each of our residents. Senior residents who meet with the students are more than welcome to share their experiences in return.

Additionally, our residents will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity through an out-of-the-ordinary arts and crafts class. Similar to how Christians craft gingerbread houses during Christmas, we have our own fun twist in mind: Matzah bread houses! This hands-on activity encourages residents to express themselves artistically while embracing the symbolism of Passover.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Our community Cooking Club will host a special class on preparing the quintessential Passover dish: Matzah Brei. Residents will gather in our communal kitchen, where they will learn the art of transforming simple ingredients, like fried eggs and matzah, into a flavorful breakfast delicacy. Cooking together not only cultivates culinary skills, but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among our residents who share the same passion.
