While JCHC is an organization founded to help Jewish seniors in the North Jersey area, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to help everyone. It turns out that living in a residence operating in a Jewish tradition is actually a philosophy that benefits everyone, and restricts no one regardless of religion, race, creed, age, or social status.

At JCHC We believe that nurturing mind, body, and soul is what keeps our independent and assisted living residents happy and healthy. Our goal is to empower our seniors while allowing them to live fully and safely. Care in the Jewish tradition is based on these values, Chesed (kindness/love), Kavod (respect), Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), and Tzedakah (charity). Regardless of who you worship, we feel these values can relate to anyone and everyone.

Senior Activities at JCHC

We do this by keeping a busy daily activity calendar as well as opportunities to enjoy the quiet on our patio or lovely nature walks. It’s your choice how to spend your time. At JCHC, delicious food is a priority in nourishing the body and soul, as well as the company we enjoy that food with. Monday through Friday consists of restaurant-style meals in our elegant, community dining room. Our chefs are happy to cater to any dietary restrictions, kosher or vegetarian for example.

Some of the amenities you will enjoy at JCHC include a beauty/barbershop, a convenience store with pantry items and fresh produce, private dining rooms for when you’re entertaining family and friends, in addition to a card room, computer center, art studio, movie theater, fitness center, and lending library.

  We love the sun, but we hate the heat! Being that it’s summer in NJ, we’ll be sure to see our share of heat waves. Exposure to extreme heat can result in heat-related illnesses, especially for seniors. Their bodies are less able to regulate their temperatures and cool themselves. When our bodies heat rapidly or when we lose fluids due to perspiration or dehydration, common conditions are cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke. In some cases, hyperthermia (absorbing more heat than our bodies can handle) is fatal.  Warning signs of heat-related illnesses Heat exhaustion is characterized as dehydration due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
