How Our Assisted Living Community is Celebrating Hanukkah!

Assisted Living Community

We take pride in making the holiday season special for our residents at Lester Senior Living, and Hanukkah is no exception! This Festival of Lights brings with it a sense of togetherness, joy, and spiritual reflection, and we are thrilled to celebrate it with a range of festive activities. Our award-winning assisted living community in Morris County is buzzing with excitement as we prepare for this cherished holiday, ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to connect with their Jewish traditions in meaningful and enjoyable ways.

Hanukkah Activities at Lester Senior Living in Morris County

Hanukkah-Themed Bingo and Trivia. How well do you and your loved ones know the story of Hanukkah? This year, our trivia sessions will challenge residents with questions all about the holiday’s history, traditions, and significance. We’ll also add some holiday flair to our popular bingo games, featuring Hanukkah-themed cards and fun prizes for the winners. It’s a great way to engage in friendly competition and share some laughs.

Dreidel Competition. Our annual competition is always a highlight at Lester Senior Living, drawing enthusiastic participants and spectators alike. Residents are already practicing their spins in preparation for this lively event. The competition is not only fun, but also fosters a sense of community among our residents. And for the winner? Perhaps, a special prize awaits?

Hanukkah Films on Repeat. Our newly renovated cinema-style movie theater will be streaming all things Hanukkah, showcasing a selection of films, documentaries, and music that celebrate the holiday’s rich culture and history. Residents can look forward to cozy evenings enjoying these inspiring stories together.

“Chanukah Cantorial Concert.” One of the most anticipated events of the season is our annual Hanukkah celebration. This festive gathering will feature delicious holiday food, spirited dancing, and live entertainment by the New Jersey Cantors Concert Ensemble. Sounds like it will be a party to remember!

Menorah Lighting. Each evening during Hanukkah, our community will come together to light the menorah, a sacred ritual that symbolizes hope and resilience. Residents and staff alike will gather to say the blessings, sing traditional songs, and reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.

Doughnut Decorating Workshop. Our popular senior cooking club will host a special session that allows residents to bake and decorate their doughnuts for Hanukkah! Last year’s “I Love You a Latke” theme was a hit, and this year’s workshop promises to be just as delicious.

Special Hanukkah Services in the Chapel. With a chapel on-site, Lester Senior Living offers regular Shabbat, Torah, and Maariv services. During Hanukkah, we’ll host a special service to honor the holiday. Residents and their families are welcome to join us for this meaningful gathering, which highlights the spirituality of Hanukkah.

Thought-Provoking Lectures. This year’s Hanukkah lecture series features fascinating topics like “Our Stories: What Would Judah Maccabee Say if He Were Around Today?” and “Freedom in the Modern Age,” presented by the insightful Paul Rabinowitz. These discussions invite residents to reflect on the themes of Hanukkah and connect them to contemporary life.
