Ready to get baking? Let’s dive into this easy and delicious recipe that’s perfect for the season!
Rugelach Dough Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine, softened
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons Gefen Dry Yeast, dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water
Rugelach Filling Ingredients:
- Cinnamon-sugar mixture
- Oil, for brushing
Directions for the Dough:
- Combine the margarine, sugar, eggs, flour, and dissolved yeast to form a smooth dough. If needed, add extra flour to achieve a soft and workable consistency.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 3 hours.
- Once chilled, divide the dough into two portions. Keep one half refrigerated while working with the other.
Assembling the Rugelach:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one portion of dough into a thin rectangle. Cut the dough horizontally into 3-4 strips, depending on how large you’d like your rugelach.
- For each strip, brush a layer of oil and generously sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Add a light drizzle of oil on top.
- Cut the strip diagonally into small triangles. Roll up each triangle from the wide end to the tip, and place on a foil-lined baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each rugelach.
Baking Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rugelach for around 18 minutes, or until they turn golden brown, rotating the baking sheets halfway through for even baking. Enjoy!
